Jewel of the Dragon

Jewel of the Dragon

Please wait...

Jewel of the Dragon is your basic Western style dragon themed game, and I mention this because Asian dragons are also found in quite a few slot machines. The game we get here features the usual story of the hunt for a dragon that’s the owner of riches, of a jewel in this case. This is one of Bally’s slot machines.

It’s going to be the sort of game to have 40 active lines over a 5 reels area. There are wild symbols for you to use, along with free spins and several other bonus features. Wins of $10,000 may come from each combination that you form, depending on the symbols that are involved.

Betting

Setting up the bet is an easy job, particularly since you’re only dealing with the line bet, while the game uses 40 coins/lines each round. With a line bet that’s set to $0.01 to $10, you have a betting range of $0.40 to $400.

Jewel of the Dragon Jackpot

For the game’s best winning combinations, you will have to look for the Wild icon, which is capable of paying up to 1,000 coins each time it lands five times across a single line. It’s a prize of $10,000 that may come your way from each win.

On the RTP side of things, I doubt you will be a big fan of what’s available in Jewel of the Dragon. The Return to Player has been set to 94.07%, and even as this is a figure that applies to the entire life of the slot, it doesn’t bode well for a player’s game session that this number is below the industry average.

Special Features

Some features involved in Jewel of the Dragon will be regulars, others will be fairly unique and you might be surprised to find them in such an older looking slot. Together they provide the players of Jewel of the Dragon with an interesting experience.

Hot Zones

As each round begins, you can get Hot Zones to appear on top of some of the symbols, though it’s not guaranteed. The symbols which are covered by these Hot Zones will be transformed into wilds. Even bonus symbols can be transformed, turning into icons which serve both as bonus triggers and wilds. It’s one of the special features that really add to the potential of the game.

Wild Symbols

The wild symbol is easy to spot since it has its own logo to show off, and it’s going to be usable as a replacement most of the time. When it doesn’t do that, hopefully it’s because it appeared enough times on a line, left to right, to get you paid directly. Its wins are the highest that you can get from combinations in this slot, paying up to 1,000 coins.

Drop Zone Bonus

For this particular feature, you need Diamond Overlays to appear scattered around the middle reels, three being required. These overlays don’t change the way the symbols work, even when they’re on top of them. The next step is to pick one of the three diamonds, to find out what the bonus is. The symbols which are then found within the borders of the Drop Zone will be transformed into additional wilds.

Dragon Nudge Bonus

This one you can get if there are Hot Zones which land outside the game area. The Dragon can appear then, to nudge it to the reels.

Free Spins

This final feature comes whenever there are a minimum of three Bonus or Bonus Wild icons visible. You get 8 free spins from them, along with a small cash reward of up to 5x the stake.

Design

The medieval times in which the action takes place, along with the presence of a dragon, should make the slot appealing to plenty of players. It’s not a recently released slot though, and its graphics tend to look somewhat dated, as you will discover yourself. The images might include a crown, a Money Shield and a Wild logo, along with the Bonus Dragon, but there are seven other symbols that are classified as classics, including here a Bell and six Royals. It’s not a great design overall.

Summary

Jewel of the Dragon should be a fun release if you’re looking mostly for great features from your games, but the RTP and the graphics will disappoint.
